Hometown Hero Spotlight: Kalsie King

Each year Blue Hills Bank asks members of the community to nominate local individuals and organizations that have had major impacts on their communities. The top 12 heroes are selected by a committee and featured in the following year’s Hometown Hero Calendar.

March 2017 Hometown Hero

Kalsie King isn’t your average teenager. While others her age may be spending their free time at the mall, Kalsie is busy collecting, washing and mending clothes from friends, relatives and classmates so that she can distribute them to people in need. Kalsie began her fledgling operation with a clothing drive for students experiencing homelessness in her own high school. After collecting more than 1,200 pieces of clothing, Kalsie now works with local nonprofits Circle of Hope, Family Movement and Goodwill to help other community members in need. With her innate desire to help people in need, Kalsie is a true teenage, community hero.

Each Hometown Hero is awarded $1,000 toward a charity of their choice. Kalsie King is sending her $1,000 donation from the Blue Hills Bank Charitable Foundation to Circle of Hope.

Thank you, Kalsie, for your commitment to helping others in need.
