UPPAbaby is an innovative American company with one mission: To make high-quality baby products that fit the needs of your new life as a parent, while appealing to the sense of style you’ve always had. Bob Monahan, Founder of UPPAbaby, shares how banking easy with Blue Hills Bank has enabled him to continue to provide exceptional products and services to his customers.
Bob Monahan: UPPAbaby is a company that brings mobility products to the juvenile industry. So, what if you have kids? How are you getting them around? The stroller becomes your life for so many parents. There’s a lot of work involved with being a parent, but I think now it is a fun time in their life and I think it’s a lifestyle people are used to having things they enjoy, cars they enjoy, clothes they enjoy. So when you have the baby, why do you have to be shortchanged? We also have a strong program where we help with tune-ups. When you buy the stroller we don’t abandon you at that point we have a fantastic customer service group that is with you all the way. You can call, you can chat, you can video, and you can email.
We try to make progress every day. How do we move the business forward each day, or each quarter, or each month? And what are the best ways to do that? Blue Hills has been great working with us. Our relationship- they worked with us to make sure we can move forward. One of the things we’ve been happy to do is researching our materials significantly. It allowed us to be the first in the industry to have a naturally fire-retardant free infant car seat.
Relative to our employees, our values are really that they’re happy and healthy. We just built this brand new facility- it allows people to come in and we have coffee for them. We have nutritious food and snacks. You’re allowed to workout- we have various workout programs in our gym up here. We allow that flexibility for their lifestyle.
We all work hard here, but then we emphasize that everybody is healthy and everybody is happy when they work here and then it pays dividends in the long run.
I’ve been working with Blue Hills Bank and their ‘working hard and making banking easy’ really allows us the time to push the envelope with the things we do, and focus on the things that are going to make us grow in all the functional areas. By not having to worry about the money we can worry about making better strollers, making our customers happier, making our employees happier and moving forward with all the systems that get things done around here.
