Hometown Hero Spotlight: Lina Arena-Derosa


Each year Blue Hills Bank asks members of the community to nominate local individuals and organizations that have had major impacts on their communities. The top 12 heroes are selected by a committee and featured in the following year’s Hometown Hero Calendar.

Lina Arena-DeRosa (pictured on the far right) is the director of the Westwood Council on Aging where she and her team host 20 regular weekly programs, meals on wheels lunch programs, holiday celebrations and day trips. Lina’s goal is to fill the needs of three generations of older citizens: 60-75, 75-85 and 85 or better. Her dedication and commitment to making the Council on Aging a warm, welcoming environment for all has paid off. More than 3,000 seniors use the center every month! Lina has been “leading the charge” for the past four years with creativity, caring and abounding enthusiasm and her team of amazing staff, unbelievable volunteers and great sponsors have helped contribute to her success.


Lina Arena-DeRosa is sending her $1,000 donation from the Blue Hills Bank Foundation to the Friends
of the Westwood Council on Aging.
