Blue Hills Bank Charitable Foundation Hosts Third Annual Philanthropy Breakfast

Norwood, MA –

“Giving back to the community is one of the core tenants of Blue Hills Bank,” commented Blue Hills Bank president and CEO William M. Parent as he addressed the leaders of more than 60 nonprofits and the Blue Hills Bank 2015 Hometown Heroes at the Blue Hills Bank Charitable Foundation’s  annual Philanthropy Breakfast.

In 2014, Blue Hills Bank and the Blue Hills Bank Charitable Foundation gave nearly $1.2 million in support to more than 200 local organizations and schools. “Today, we honor your work in the community and look forward to creating deeper partnerships as we grow together in the future,” commented Parent.

The room of 150 volunteers, educators and nonprofit leaders enjoyed breakfast and guest speaker Billy Starr, founder and executive director of the Pan-Mass Challenge.  “Passion and commitment to a cause drive the success of an organization,” commented Starr, who built a $5 billion ‘a-thon’ industry from a desire to make a difference.

There was no shortage of passion or commitment in the room full of leaders, educators and Blue Hills Bank Hometown Heroes, all of whom serve the community in the areas of health and human services, arts and education, affordable housing and community development and financial literacy.

“I’m looking at a room full of people who represent human nature at its finest” commented Blue Hills Bank community relations officer, Julie Beckham, as she addressed the attendees. “It is a privilege to stand before you and honor the work you do to make the lives of so many better.”

The Blue Hills Bank Charitable Foundation was established in 2010 with a mission to provide needed funding to nonprofits in the fields of education and the arts, health and human services, and affordable housing and community development within Blue Hills Bank’s assessment area.
